junior pearls : back to school backpack program

Junior Pearls is launching their School Backpack Program in August, providing backpacks stuffed with essential school supplies for children with cancer in grades K-12. While supplies last, the program is open to residents of California and Oregon between the ages of five and 18, who have been diagnosed with cancer within the past year and cannot otherwise afford to purchase backpacks and necessary school supplies.

The Junior Pearls Backpack Program helps children struggling with the hardships of cancer to start the school year right with the tools they need to be successful. It is the goal of Junior Pearls to provide these children with something that will give them HOPE, and foster trust and self-esteem for the future.

An initial donation of school supplies was made by Target. Additional donations from the public and area corporations are appreciated, and a list of suggested items can be found online at www.target.com/lists/11JYEXZCWOZNY. Items may be shipped or dropped off at Beckstrand Cancer Foundation’s office, located at 20341 Birch Street, Ste. 310, in Newport Beach.
